COL. BRUCE HAMPTON:
Col. Bruce Hampton has been making music since he formed his first band in 1963. Col. Bruce has been in constant motion ever since leaving a trail of memorable live performances with his many bands, including The Late Bronze Age and Col. Bruce Hampton and The Aquarium Rescue Unit.
Along the way he appeared in the movie “Sling Blade” as the poet and band manager Morris and starred in Mike Gordon’s cult classic “Outside Out” as a mystical guitar ‘out’structor.

Since 2006, The Colonel has been playing a unique blend of blues and jazz with his band Col. Bruce & The Quark Alliance. Still rolling down the road, Col. Bruce continues his quest for the tonal center at each exit #6.

ANTIQUE FIREARMS:
Brothers Bradan and Parker Dotson finalized the plans to unite and start their indie rock band “Antique Firearms” while in a bar in the Netherlands. Once they were back in the U.S. from their travels, they met up in Asheville, NC, to start writing their debut album.
The brothers recorded and mixed a four song E.P. called “Empty Frames” in a single day at First Class Studios in Fuquay-Varina NC, at the end of 2010. The E.P. was released for free online and showcased the range of styles and sounds the band was capable of, highlighted by Bradan’s haunting voice and Parker’s eclectic guitar licks.

The self-titled full length album (released in April 2011 on Honey Badger Records) stays true to the experimental rock tone set by the E.P. The album also features an electronic undertone created by Hip-Hop Producers “Prophet” and “W2” who produced the album with the Dotsons. The musical talents of the third and final Dotson brother Galen as well as Chandler Brewer, and Rebecca Ward have rounded out the five piece.

The band covers a lot of ground over this ten track album, fearlessly mixing up a sonic cocktail that is as potent as it is smooth, ending with a “rootsy” track called “Carolina” recorded in Weaverville by producer/multi-instrumentalist Matt Williams. The album is next to impossible to pigeonhole, making one inclined to simply go with the line “You just have to hear it”. The band will be touring to promote their debut album while they continue to write their sophomore release. Expect to see them soon, and often. Their self-titled debut album “Antique Firearms” is available now on Itunes and all other major online retailers…
