Hailing from Birmingham, AL, childhood friends Tanner Gray and Colby Wilson have beenwriting music together for over ten years. The pair have drawn inspiration from different genresand eras - The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Grateful Dead, Vampire Weekend, and JohnMayer to name a few. The music that comes from Gray and Wilson has always boasted bloodharmonies as well as thoughtful, invoking lyrics.Post high school, Gray and Wilson took different paths. Gray attended Mississippi StateUniversity; Wilson stayed in Birmingham. While at MSU, Gray became acquainted with ChasePorter (bass) and Zach Corder (drums). Porter, Corder, and Gray would form and play inmultiple groups during their time in Starkville, MS. Wilson, all the while, was writing music of hisown with his group Smoking With the Bandit. After graduating in 2015, Porter made his way toNashville to begin a career in Marketing. A year later, Gray and Corder made theirpost-graduate home in the panhandle of Florida, where they eventually formed The Graytones. In the Spring of 2019, Gray and Wilson were reunited when Gray moved back to Birmingham inpursuit of a new job. Corder headed to Music City, catching up with Porter. Gray and Wilsonpicked up right where they left off in Alabama, and they soon felt a new project starting to takeform. As the duo recorded acoustic demos, they reached out to their Mississippi-born rhythm section. The demos were shared north to Nashville, and once Porter and Corder heard what Gray andWilson were doing, they were all in. In September of 2019, Certainly So was formed. Severalmonths later, in January 2020, the group was introduced to producer/engineer Toby Hulbert.Hulbert had spent the last 8 years at Abbey Road in his hometown of London, England, andwas currently in Nashville working alongside hitmaker Dave Cobb. Upon hearing the ‘CertainlySo’ demos, he felt a similar sentiment as Porter and Corder did- he must be involved. Hulbertjoined the team as producer. Certainly So and Hulbert gained access to East Avalon RecordingStudio in Muscle Shoals through RCA’s Colin Lott during April 2020. Over the next two months,Hulbert and Lott teamed up to produce and engineer four weekend sessions, recording whatwould be the band’s debut album Future Self Only Dreams.

The feeling of love. The power of unity. The essence of happiness. The strength of togetherness and positive vibrations. The highs of living life and the lows of dealing with its obstacles. All of these things encapsulate the music of Cincinnati, OH-born Rockstead, a four-piece, passion driven rock/reggae group. With roots leading as far back as middle school, Rockstead combines a lifetime full of influences ranging from rock, punk, reggae, jam and metal. In their early days Rockstead ruled the college party scene in Ohio with a schedule full of impromptu house shows leading to packed basements of DIY venues and later, massive crowds attending college fests such as Ohio University’s infamous spring festivals. This early success catalyzed the band’s first recordings which included “Wake Up And Live” (album, 2013), “Rise” (EP, 2014) and “Homegrown” (album, 2016). These releases ignited their inner road warrior leading to a plethora of plays at music festivals and concert venues across the Midwest. Since then, Rockstead continues to widen their reach touring throughout the Eastern U.S. and Florida. Though member changes have occurred over the years, front man singer/guitarist Jake Burns continues to drive the group forward as they have shared stages with international acts such as The Wailers (Jamaica), Sticky Fingers (Australia) and Steel Pulse (UK) as well as many national acts like Andy Frasco & The U.N., Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Badfish, Tropidelic, Little Stranger, Bumpin’ Uglies, Ballyhoo! and Artikal Sound System. The band has now grown to include Nate Anuci (drums) and Stephen Woodard (bass). Rockstead dropped their first studio album “You’re In Control” in September 2020 which scored them multiple features in blogs and podcasts across the scene making them “one of the most unique and special bands in [Cincinnati]” (CincyMusic, 2020). The group continues to expand their catalog with the release of their sophomore studio album “Fall Down. Get Up. Repeat.” in February 2023 with guest appearances from TreeHouse!, The Quasi Kings and Higher Education. By using their relentless high-energy performances and genre-bending setlists, while aligning their unwavering dedication to the do-it-yourself work ethic, Rockstead shows no sign of slowing down their mission of bringing people together through music.

The Larry Keel & Jon Stickley Duo features two of the finest flatpicking guitarists of this generation. Both share a lifelong love of acoustic bluegrass guitar music made famous by influential duets Doc and Merle Watson, and Tony Rice and Norman Blake. Keel, Stickley, and other modern flatpickers like Billy Strings grew up studying these legends. These masters were role models who provided inspiration to both Larry and Jon to pursue careers as professional guitar players. Each has gone on to pioneer his own distinct interpretation of the bluegrass artform, as well as fusing genres from roots, jazz, prog, and beyond. Now, Keel and Stickley have themselves become new masters of acoustic guitar. With this act, the two celebrate the pure joy of playing acoustic guitar music as a duo, effortlessly complementing each other’s rhythm and lead playing while never losing their own individual personality. Their sophisticated and awe-inspiring performances suit an array of venues including festival stages, listening rooms, private functions, and nightclubs. At the core of the Keel/Stickley Duo is an intimate conversation between two guitars and voices, done with superior skill and taste, with more than a hint of explosive late-night-jam vibe.
Seven Teller is the art-rock brainchild of Baltimore musician and songwriter Sam Cochran, who started the project in 2020. A blend of post-punk, dance, and psych-rock music nourishes the band’s unique, immersive sound. During live performances, the group improvises between songs by adding psychedelic textures on top of fun, upbeat rhythms. Their devoted fanbase, called “Teller Family,” travels hours to concerts, so the band tries to make each night feel more spontaneous and special than the last. There are moments too when the whole room becomes connected to the music and it feels like there is no band or audience. Moments like these are what the band strives for. Seven Teller’s new record ‘Jester’ just came out last summer and they are set to release new music in summer 2025.

Music brings us to our feet literally, figuratively, and spiritually. It inspires us to rise up to the trials and tribulations of our daily lives and, on a larger scale, to the challenges of the world. Through an unspoken sonic communion between three distinct musical identities, SunSquabi—Kevin Donohue [guitar, keys, production], Josh Fairman [bass, synth], and George Horn [drums]—rouse us from inactivity and into action when we need the extra push through their signature live electronica sound. After racking up tens of millions of streams and delivering rapturous performances at legendary venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre, they continue to incite personal revolutions louder than ever with their recent releases Cloudburst EP [2024] and Grind EP [2024]. “The past few years have shown us how resilient people can be,” observes Kevin. “Our music reflects that journey—overcoming obstacles and finding light through it all. These EPs are a testament to staying grounded, connected, and hopeful.” SunSquabi has ignited the energy of listeners everywhere since 2015. They’ve unveiled a string of fan-favorite releases such as Odyssey [2016], Deluxe EP [2017], and Instinct [2019]. Praised by outlets like 303 Magazine, JamBase, and Live For Live Music, they’ve also earned acclaim from Westword, which proclaimed, “The record has electrifying moments,” and ThisSongIsSick, which raved, “SunSquabi never fails to bring the funk.” Along the way, they’ve sold out venues coast-to-coast, capturing one of their iconic Red Rocks gigs on SunSquabi (Live at Red Rocks). The trio has collaborated with String Cheese Incident, Late Night Radio, Lettuce, and GRiZ, among others. Much of their newest music has emerged from the synergy of marathon jam sessions, the energy of live gigs, and their ever-evolving creative chemistry. During the pandemic, SunSquabi deepened their bond as a band and stayed true to their core. Josh reflects, “We’ve always stayed authentic to ourselves and the music we feel in our hearts. That’s what keeps us going and what our fans connect with.” In 2025, SunSquabi’s mission remains clear: to uplift, inspire, and connect. As Kevin concludes, “If there’s one thing we hope to do, it’s to lift people’s spirits and remind them there’s always a way to rise up.”

Sultry and effervescent, low-down, dirty and mean, this dynamic EDM-infused seven-piece band is bringing jazz back to the dance floor where it belongs. Based out of Portland, OR, and New Orleans, LA, High Step Society has been a favorite of the US festival scene since it’s creation in 2015, touring year-round and sharing stages with a wide range of acts from Beats Antique and The Polish Ambassador to Zion I and Dirtwire. Their fusion of hard-hitting beats with seductive vocals and horns has made them a top performance choice for dancers and burlesque and circus artists worldwide. Capturing the spirit of the Jazz Age and launching it a century forward, this band breaks down the divisions between us and replaces them with the irresistible urge to dance together. High stepping is a state of mind, and a society to be a part of.
Vincent Neil Emerson Since his 2019 debut, Emerson has made his contemporary mark on the tradition of American songwriting. His newest and fourth full-length album, Blue Stars, with longtime label La Honda Records, visits all of the influences and moods of his previous releases. After his first album, Fried Chicken & Evil Women, Emerson built a reputation for live music, finding his grass roots audience night after night. The loyalty among his audience can be attributed to his songwriting, and the innate gift of experienced lyrics. His self-titled 2021 release, as well as The Golden Crystal Kingdom in 2023, further cemented that foundation, drawing praise from the producers he worked with on each of those records, Rodney Crowell, and Shooter Jennings, respectively. With his fourth album, Blue Stars, Vincent brings together the distinct sound from all three of his previous releases. Produced by Patrick Lyons and recorded at Gnome Studios in Nashville, TN, the record benefits from Lyons' deeply intuitive approach, having been close friends with Vincent for many years. For Emerson, it was important to capture the sound from the road as closely as possible, enlisting his touring Red Horse Band to play on the album. "I've known Patrick for years and going into the studio with him felt like a big family kind of thing with my band." Blue Stars features 13 original songs and is a testament to his songwriting prowess. Having dabbled across country, folk, and Americana music with his first three records, Emerson brings all three of those genres together with his latest release. Lyrically, these songs are rooted in his upbringing in East Texas, life on the road, and his deep family ties to Louisiana - three landscapes that continue to shape his perspective and inform his writing. "I was definitely thinking a lot about my childhood in Texas and the trips to Louisiana to visit my mother's family there. A lot of the music I love comes from those areas, and I think it's important to have a sense of pride in where you come from." But sonically, Blue Stars reaches wider. It brings together the hard country sound of his early work, the stripped down intimacy of his self-titled record, and the bold rock n' roll of The Golden Crystal Kingdom. The result is a record that offers something for every listener who has followed his journey - while also serving as a perfect entry point for those just discovering his music.

High June doesn’t quite know what they are, and honestly, they’re fine with that. What they do know is that their sound is alternative, boundless, and unapologetically theirs. Drawing inspiration from a chaotic mix of genres, High June delivers a unique sonic experience backed by high-energy performances and a complete disregard for sticking to the rules. Formed in 2021, the band didn’t lock in their final lineup until 2023 at East Carolina University, essentially becoming five unpredictable college students united by a love for music and a shared goal of avoiding “real jobs” at all costs. Their debut single, “Crazy ‘Bout You,” dropped in July 2023. Since then, they’ve released ten more tracks—none of which sound alike, yet all unmistakably sound like High June. Each release is a new experiment, a new risk, and a step toward something bigger. The band is constantly chasing better songs, tighter performances, and any opportunity that helps them grow (and keep dodging that 9-to-5 life). Now riding the wave of their latest single, “Last Cigarette,” a gritty sex driven song that’s quickly gaining traction, High June captures their raw emotion and passion in a way that feels both intimate and explosive. It’s messy, it’s real, and it’s only the beginning. Cadalay is an alternative rock trio from Philadelphia, currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. The band has been writing and performing together since 2022 and has recently found success with their singles "The River" and "Forsaken". Built on hook-forward songwriting shared by all four members, Jared Sage Cowen (guitar/vocals), Max Perrotti (bass/vocals), Daniel Cohen (keys/vocals), and Henry Thomas (drums/vocals), the band has quickly earned national attention. Known for adventurous live performances that blur the line between tightly crafted compositions and spontaneous exploration, Big Shrimp has a fiercely loyal fanbase known as the Prawn Stars. With all four members contributing songs, vocals, and improvisational ideas, no two performances are alike. The tour culminated in the release of The Prawno Tapes, Vol. 4, a live album capturing the strongest improvisational moments from the run and featuring special guest Ryan Dempsey of Twiddle, who joined the band for several performances throughout the tour. "There's something about seeing a pack of feral 20-something-year-olds on a mission that calms any doubt about the future of music." — Josh Landes, WAMC Building on that momentum, Big Shrimp spent Summer 2026 following Phish throughout the Northeast with its "We've Got It Shrimple" after-party series. The run packed venues across the East Coast, sold out three performances, and introduced hundreds of new fans to the band's explosive late-night shows. On the studio front, Big Shrimp released its second studio single, "Alcaworkholic," in March 2026 as the latest preview of the band's forthcoming debut full-length album set for release in Fall 2026. The band's momentum continues this August with the launch of Camp Scampi, Big Shrimp's inaugural music, food, and arts festival in Addison, New York. Headlined by Big Shrimp and Spafford and featuring more than 30 artists across multiple stages, the independently produced festival reflects the community the band has built through relentless touring and an ever-growing national audience. Looking ahead, Big Shrimp has already announced a 30+ date Fall 2026 Tour, expanding into new markets including St. Louis, Milwaukee, Cleveland, and Charlotte while returning to fan-favorite cities across the Northeast and Midwest. The run also marks the band's third Colorado tour of 2026, reinforcing one of its fastest-growing regional fanbases as momentum continues to build toward the release of its debut studio album.
Weird Phishes is exactly what it sounds like - the iconic melancholy rock songs of Radiohead completely reborn as danceable, crunchy jams. With full-album performances, unexpected mashups, and gluey funk-driven improvisation, their jam-heavy take on alt-rock classics has sparked an unexpected energy in audiences across the northeast. Cleverly avoiding the "tribute" trope, Weird Phishes continues to push the envelope of what a mashup band can be, delivering performances that need to be experienced in order to believe. A quick glance at the band’s social media gives a glimpse into why this unlikely mashup proves worthwhile. “Bought tickets on a whim because I love both bands, had wanted to check out the club, and thought it would be amusing. I was not expecting such incredible musicianship and thought that had gone into their set...it was one of the best shows I’ve seen in years.” Said one user. “Clean, creative mashups of a favorite album and great Phish selections. Great energy.” says another. “Impossibly excellent show.” In July 2019, Weird Phishes solidified their place in the New England jam community, playing back-to-back afterparties after Phish’s performances at Fenway Park. With a growing fanbase and an ever-changing setlist, the band continued their breakout year with a fall run to the midwest. In a weird bout of poetic justice, Weird Phishes was the last band to play at northeast jam-staple venue Nectar's before the coronavirus pandemic of 2020. When live music came back in 2021, Weird Phishes returned with a force. The band made its triumphant return with a headlining performance at the inaugural Safe and Soundz festival, and took a victory lap with appearances across the northeast at Circus of Life Festival and a sold-out performance to christen Boston's newest venue, Aeronaut Cannery.

Rooted in sonic exploration and an improvisational spirit, World Famous Pets approaches music as something fluid and responsive rather than fixed or pre-determined. The project first took shape through an idea sparked by Brickell and Chamberlain, eventually evolving into a collaborative creative outlet driven by experimentation and instinct. Their self-produced debut album embodies that ethos, with songwriting contributions from every band member, reflecting the collective creativity and free-flowing collaboration at the heart of the project. “Matt is one of those rare people in life whose connection to you never fades,” Brickell shares, “Years go by, and it’s as if no time has passed, and you pick up where you left off. As musicians, I’ve witnessed the evolution of his playing in awe of his talent and skill. His experiment to bring Kaveh and Mason to play in the studio with us for 6 days turned out to be a free-flowing fountain of song after song.
Karina Rykman plays bass, sings, jumps around, and laughs a lot. In doing so, she has garnered rare attention and avid listenership. Straddling the worlds of jam rock and indie pop drenched in psychedelia, Karina’s effervescent presence comes to life in musical form. Born & raised in New York City, Karina Rykman’s musical path began in her early teens playing in bands whenever she could while attending a veritable ton of live music as a fan. By the end of her senior year at NYU, Rykman’s virtuoso talent & infectious spirit saw her invited to join pianist Marco Benevento’s band (as recommended by Ween bassist Dave Dreiwitz), with whom she’s performed countless shows including dates with Vulfpeck, Dispatch, The Claypool Lennon Delirium, & many more. Rykman soon formed her own namesake band, accompanied by Adam November (guitar, loopers, effects) and Chris Corsico (drums). She quickly earned a reputation as an unmissable live act - a bombastic exposition that floats freely between dreamy indie pop and thick, distorted rock - with “fun” as its guiding light. Tearing up sold out headline performances to ravenous fans, show-stealing festival performances (including Bonnaroo, Peach Music Festival, and Sweetwater 420 Fest), opening for Khruangbin, My Morning Jacket, the Tedeschi Trucks Band (+ many more), plus recent appearances in the house band on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, Karina stays busy. Rykman released her debut album, JOYRIDE via AWAL in August 2023. Written & recorded with childhood friend and producer Gabe Monro, the album serves as a vivid canvas for Rykman’s vibrant expression & chameleonic songcraft. JOYRIDE features Trey Anastasio as co-producer & featured musician, contributing guitar on five of the album’s nine tracks. The bassist/vocalist’s concerts are often packed with fans who feel more like friends—a testament to her undeniable charisma and her embrace of the live music community—and that circle continues to expand at alarming rates.

Less than a decade into her career, Katie Pruitt has cemented her status as an essential artist who helps us make sense of modern life and uncover meaningful ways of moving through it. Since the arrival of her critically celebrated full-debut Expectations (a 2020 LP that earned her an Emerging Artist of the Year nomination from the Americana Music Association), the Georgia-bred singer/songwriter/guitarist has assembled an acclaimed body of work exploring questions both existential and intimate (e.g., identity, self-acceptance, the quiet courage of living truthfully). On her new album Fools for the Fleeting, the Nashville-based musician reckons with the impermanence inherent to being human, shifting between poetic observation and confessional storytelling as she confronts such complex matters as ecological anxiety, love’s intrinsic fragility, and the profound isolation normalized by our increasingly digitized existence. Her third full-length and follow-up to 2024’s Mantras, Fools for the Fleeting emerged from Pruitt’s vision of creating an album that feels “rooted to the earth”—a concept closely tied to the LP’s underlying theme of nature as a mirror for our inner lives. A prime showcase for her warm and soulful voice, the 10-song set centers on a powerful yet intentional form of Americana/indie-rock, steeped in acoustic instrumentation and the beautifully imperfect friction of live performance, courtesy of musicians like Juan Solorzano (a guitarist known for his work with Ruston Kelly and Parker Millsap) and Aksel Coe (a drummer who’s played with Ella Langley and Sierra Ferrell). As Pruitt’s most outward-reaching and philosophically rich work to date, the result is a luminous meditation on transience and grief, connection as survival, and the transformative power of presence and surrender.

The Wellermen first captured global attention in 2021, when their viral sea shanty performances helped spark the worldwide “Wellerman” phenomenon, generating billions of views and leading to appearances at The BRIT Awards and on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. What began as a digital moment has since evolved into a fully realized transatlantic live band with a devoted global fanbase. They mix the East Coast folk sensibilities of basses Bobby Waters and Luke Taylor (Boston and Pennsylvania) with the British musicianship of Jonny Stewart and Seb Payne, and the theatrical energy of Sam Pope, who starred in the West End. Blending American East Coast folk roots with British musicianship and theatrical performance energy, The Wellermen have expanded beyond their shanty origins into a broader folk sound while maintaining the powerful five-part harmonies that define them. Central to their identity is their rare dual-bass vocal foundation, creating a depth and richness that sets them apart in modern folk. With their EP 1778 and upcoming original material, The Wellermen are moving confidently into their next chapter — honoring traditional roots music while building a contemporary folk sound centered on harmony, story telling and connection.

FULL BIO: We like to believe our lives can be shaped into stories—clean arcs, legible meaning—but life refuses the outline. Instead, it moves bluntly and without apology, indifferent to our sense of order. Events pile up without resolution, momentum divorced from direction, motion confused for progress. Sometimes the only refuge left is the nowhere of our own minds. El Ten Eleven’s Nowhere Faster, the duo’s 16th release, was forged within that unease. Across eight tracks, it considers not just nothingness but velocity—the strange urgency that propels us forward even when the destination remains unclear. We are committed to acceleration, convinced speed itself might save us. The 33-minute album slows just long enough to pose the harder questions: what are we running from, and what do we think we can outrun? That tension appears even in the album’s artwork, once again created with longtime collaborator Rob Fleming. It depicts a classic liminal space: familiar, anonymous, quietly unsettling. A stained glass-colored building and a streetlamp blur at the edges, suggesting motion that feels less like escape than enclosure—the kind that traps rather than transports. Nowhere Faster emerged from Kristian Dunn and Tim Fogarty’s longest break from touring and recording in their 23 years together, though “break” is something of a misnomer. Dunn’s famously restless creative pace never slowed. Instead, he began writing for not one but two drummers, handing Fogarty one of the most demanding challenges of his career. The record also marks a first for the band, weaving real strings and piano throughout, deepening the palette of what is already one of their most layered works. The album’s titles and sounds draw from moments scattered across the band’s 23-year history. Opener “Uncanny Valley Girl” marks the return of long-retired effects like the delay pedal, stacking basslines into a dense, enveloping wall. It’s a clear-eyed take on AI-era paranoia, anchored by Fogarty’s steady rhythm—snare taut, cymbals gently alive—giving the sci-fi unease something solid to lean on. “Bjork’s Alarm Clock,” meanwhile, takes its title from an insult hurled at the band by a guitarist of a punk band on their first tour; you can almost hear Dunn and Fogarty’s quiet laughter beneath the buoyant bass and bow-scratched strings. Still, Nowhere Faster is not a retreat into nostalgia. El Ten Eleven remains invested in risk and reinvention. The record continues to center Fogarty’s propulsive drumming and Dunn’s bass-driven experimentation: the first four tracks (“side A”) feature electric bass, while the latter half (“side B”) shifts to acoustic bass processed through pedals, subtly altering the album’s emotional weight. “Last Night In The Kitchen” reaches for the slick, sleazy bombast of classic Bond themes, opening new corridors for Dunn’s ever-expanding musical ambitions. Album closer “So It Goes” draws inspiration from Dunn’s reading of Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five, coinciding with his reckoning with aging, loss, and the deaths of friends. Built around one of his stranger sonic experiments—a capo wrapped around a fretless acoustic bass—the song unfurls into a twangy, americana-inflected lament. It sounds like the quiet moments when reflection catches up to us, when we take inventory of the gnashes and scars left by the jaws of life.

Dizgo - Born from attic jam sessions between childhood friends Andrew Pickel and Kevin Hinnefeld, Dizgo’s story began with two guitars, a tape recorder, and a dream - literally. The band’s name came to Hinnefeld in a dream, before their first gig, reflecting the cosmic, boundary-breaking sound they’d soon deliver. Later joined by Jake Evatt on keys/vocals and Justin Clark on drums, the Bloomington-based quartet has since evolved into one of the country's premiere touring acts. Critics have called Dizgo “one of the most operative names in the jam band scene” and “Indiana’s psychedelic powerhouse,” blending the adventurous spirit of jamtronica with the deep-pocket pulse of funk, the warmth of soul, explosive guitar, and the kaleidoscopic textures of psychedelic rock. Their live shows are immersive journeys - a dance party and mind-trip rolled into one. Interweaving soulful vocals, analog synths, and searing guitar complete with intricate compositions and extended improvisation. The result is something both danceable and introspective: a dance floor where heads and hearts move in equal measure. Dizgo’s touring resume reads like a true music lover’s bucket list - standout sets at Peach Music Festival, Summer Camp, Secret Dreams, Domefest and Sonic Bloom, alongside club and amphitheater performances supporting Goose, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, lespecial, Dogs in a Pile, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, and more. Their 2024 studio album “Melt” crystallized their ethos: when everything locks in, the band and the fans “melt into one collective unit,” channeling energy between themselves and the crowd in a feedback loop of groove. From your local venue to the biggest festival stage, Dizgo creates a communal experience - one where genre is merely a suggestion, the band and the fans are a living organism, and every note is a step further down the rabbit hole.

Goodnight, Texas is a band you’ve almost certainly heard somewhere. You’re going through their catalog, hearing lyrics about trapped coal miners and lovebird bank robbers. Banjos and mandolins, genre tough to pin down. Now you’re interested, so you go see them live. The show is swelling to a fever pitch, and suddenly they’re singing devastating harmonies off mic, then rocking again, full tilt. The band’s most recent album Signals is a raucous one. Its first single, “RUNAWAYS,” even features a guest solo from Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, who admired the band’s version of “Of Wolf and Man” on the 2022 charity covers album The Metallica Blacklist. Beyond the memorable sock-you-in-the-face riffs, GN, TX seems to be stretching sonic roots deeper in every direction on Signals, with studio help from Oakland’s Ian and Jay Pellicci (Deerhoof, Tune-Yards). Stories of the Americana of yore blend into the near past and present via tales of DB Cooper and North Dakota oil field workers. Electric guitars pound like hammers, but the mandolins still twinkle like dim stars. Googling, you find recent features in NME, Rolling Stone, No Depression and Consequence of Sound, and appearances at festivals such as Austin City Limits, SXSW, Red Wing Roots, Old Settlers Festival and Beachlife Ranch. They’ve toured with acts such as The Dead South, Larkin Poe, Shakey Graves, Trampled by Turtles, The Brothers Comatose, and John Craigie. In 2020, their song “The Railroad” was the opening montage theme for episode one of Tiger King, which had 53 million streams in its first week. Maybe that’s where you heard them in the first place. Or maybe it was the Coors Banquet commercial with Sam Elliott. Wait a minute, they have 250 million streams across platforms. Maybe you heard them in your favorite bar, or your friend’s car. On stage, now late in the set, the band burns through a yet-unreleased song that the die-hard fans up front don’t recognize. Perhaps they have new music coming in 2026? Also you are fairly certain you overhear their roadie mention plans for what appears to be their first ever tour in Europe. That’s a big deal. You text your cousins across the Atlantic to look Goodnight, Texas up. Still at the merch table at last call, you learn: Goodnight, Texas is named for an actual hamlet of 27 people and dozens of dogs, the exact mile-for-mile midpoint between co-founders Avi Vinocur and Patrick Dyer Wolf’s homes on each coast. They’ve been there a bunch of times, most recently to play a show for everybody who was around, and to hand out copies of their newest music.
