A Family Reunion: Benefit for Aslan Walkon

General Event Info

Join us in gathering to celebrate a beloved member of our community, Aslan Walkon, who is currently in need of our support. This party will not only be a joyous and unforgettable reunion of friends and families, but also a rare night of music featuring reunion performances by bands that helped shape the landscape of our bountiful Western North Carolina music scene at the turn of the century.

High Plains Drifters

Never got a chance to see the Beastie Boys? Damn. Well, High Plains Drifters pay tribute to their legacy by performing entire albums from front to back. Paul’s Boutique? They play it! Check Your Head? They do that, too! The illustrious trio of Josh Phillips, Eli Cramer, and Philo Reitzel, spearhead this live band and one DJ, featuring past and present members of Atmosphere, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty, Effigy Seed, and Josh Phillips Feel Good. This all-star lineup brings you as close to the real experience as you can get, faithfully recreating some of the most influential music of our time.

Touring since 1997, GFE creates a live-wire party whenever they drop the beat! GFE’s music consists of positive hip-hop rhymes over a fusion of funk based jams which expand into reggae, rock, metal, blues and soul. With over 100 songs, GFE creates a musical collage of modern day pop- culture. They are an extravaganza of artistry; with five musicians, three emcee’s and a vocalist, the shows are Guaranteed Fresh Every time.

Natural Healing Tribe

Natural Healing was formed in Boone NC circa 1995. The band bends Reggae with healthy doses of soul psychedelia and an earthy Appalachian groove.

From punk, to hip hop, to electronic leaning improvisation, the common hero that binds the musical story of Strut is the dense and dirty sonic forcefield that radiates from the stage like a Hadouken in Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior, and will find it’s way into the crannies of even the strongest willed amongst us. Engulf yourself in a long overdue sensorial masterpiece that has been lying dormant, waiting for the right moment to return to the world and cover all the haters with a warm, nasty hug.
