THE SNOZZBERRIES
Hi-Energy Psychedelic Prog-Fusion Rock from Asheville, NC
The Snozzberries are an undeniable force of raw musical power, a constantly evolving band laser-focused on pushing boundaries. Their huge, distinct sound is a sonic voyage, epitomized by hi-energy psychedelia, progressive rock, and deep-fried funk. Praised by Rolling Stone as a “jubilant rock act,” The Snozzberries are a rising star in the world of alternative psych rock.
The Asheville, NC based rock group has always emphasized engaging with their audience through tight musical arrangements and improvisational exploration. Delving deeper into a new era of progressive fusion based storytelling, The Snozzberries are ready to nourish the masses with their infectious riffs and memorable vocal harmonies.
In November 2024, The Snozzberries released their new self-titled album to rave reviews. Described by Grateful Web as “a gift for all progressive music fans,” The Snozzberries is a cosmic journey, channeling dark psych rock, thrash metal, funk and soul to weave a tapestry of love, loss and redemption. Prog Magazine praised the album as “Pushing the envelope in energy, chaos and breadth…An exuberant collection of tasty grooves and kaleidoscopic jams.”
The Snozzberries notably thrive as a live ensemble, so much that Live For Live Music wrote “the band delivered a hard-hitting set that raged against the elements and was a worthwhile reason for many – including this reporter – to get soaked.” They have wowed audiences at festivals including Hulaween, Summer Camp, Resonance, Sweetwater 420 Fest, Warren Haynes Xmas Jam By Day, AVLFest and more. They have shared the stage with bands such as Papadosio, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Perpetual Groove, Here Come The Mummies, and Big Something and have played official afterparties for Umphrey’s McGee, The Disco Biscuits and Lotus.
“..The final result is more Americana soul than New Orleans funk, steeped in the Memphis gospel vocals, R&B horns and gurgling B3 organ of Al Green, Hi Records and Willie Mitchell, but his adopted hometown’s spirit can’t be denied..”
Co-produced by Kelly with Robert Mercurio of long-running New Orleans band Galactic (now owner of the famed Tipitina’s venue), Here’s the Thing offers an introduction to a musician who put in the work and waited until the time was right to launch his solo career after establishing his reputation for more than a decade with local group Gravy.
Kelly’s connections forged during two decades in New Orleans resulted in a dizzying array of talented musicians who participated in the project, including bassist Kevin Scott [Gov’t Mule, Jimmy Herring Band], drummer/multi-instrumentalist Isaac Eady [the Tedeschi-Trucks Band], drummer Stanton Moore and bassist/producer Robert Mercurio [both of Galactic], singer/vocal producer Gabrielle Cavassa [Joshua Redman], lead guitarist Joe Pizzolato [Kelly Price, Hans Williams], saxophonist/clarinetist Nick Ellman [Naughty Professor, Maroon 5], composer/multi-instrumentalist Kelly Pratt [Arcade Fire, St. Vincent, David Byrne, Father John Misty] and so many more..
Finding a new lease on life following a near-fatal accident several years ago, Kelly has returned to touring, honing the new material for live performances.
