Featherpocket Stringband combines the speed, instrumentation, and harmonies of bluegrass with the conventions of indie songwriting. Drawing influence from the Velvet Underground, Gram Parsons, and Susto, Featherpocket is turning bluegrass into alternative grass. In 2025, Featherpocket began collaboration with LA-Based punkgrass outfit Watertower to make a full length record, with 3 singles released so far and more in the way.
Featherpocket Stringband has performed at the Carrborro Bluegrass Festival, Hopscotch, Artsplosure Raleigh, Charlotte SHOUT! and has shared the stage with Lillie Mae, Watertowert, Susto, Larry Keel, Boy Named Banjo, Sarah Shook and the Disarmers, David Childers, Kendall Street Co and many more.
Their 2025 release Cowboy Hat was named Charlotte’s best single of 2025 by the Queen City Nerve. David Childers (NC Songwriters Hall of Fame Inductee) called their debut record the “Best thing I heard all year by someone who ain’t dead”
