Riyen Roots is an acoustic blues, roots and soul musician from the music rich mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. With his unique vocal/guitar stylings and captivating original songs along with covers from some of the best in blues, Americana and soul history, he has become one of the busiest acts in the Carolinas playing 150-200 shows a year nationally and touring Europe. He is also known for his blues duo, Roots and Dore’s annual shows in New Orleans the first week of JazzFest annually. He has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the blues business over his twenty two years performing professionally including friends, Bobby Rush, Eric Gales, Cedric Burnside, John Dee Holeman, Maria Muldaur, Guitar Shorty along with his mentors Bob Margolin and Mac Arnold of Muddy Waters Band and many more. He’s also the preferred opener for all Billy Bob Thornton’s band The Boxmasters NC/SC shows. Always a great time when “Roots” is doing his thing.
